Step on board: the Portaal van Vlaanderen (Portal of Flanders). The information center of Terneuzen. Discover everything that Terneuzen has to offer! The Portaal van Vlaanderen is located in an ideal spot: directly by the water, overlooking the Terneuzen lock complex. Here, you literally and figuratively get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the busiest waterways in Europe! What can you do here? Guided Tours of the Lock Complex One of the main attractions is the guided tour of the lock complex. Accompanied by enthusiastic volunteers, you gain insight into how the locks operate and learn about the construction of the impressive New Lock, one of the largest infrastructure projects currently in the Netherlands. With the help of a little train, you will visit, among other places, the bridge chamber, the observation point, and, if you're lucky, see how enormous ships pass through the locks of Terneuzen. Boat Tour Step on board for a boat tour from the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. During this trip, you experience the canal and companies along the canal from the water. A must-do for young and old! Interactive Exhibition Inside the information center, you'll find an interactive exhibition. Here, you can learn more about the history of the port, the development of the locks, and even about finds from the ground, such as mammoth bones and fossilized whale remains, which were excavated during the construction of the New Lock. For more information and to reserve activities, you can visit the website www.portaalvanvlaanderen.nl.

The importance of sustainability has greatly increased in recent years, and this also affects the way we travel. As a traveler, you can have a positive impact on the environment by making conscious choices during your journey. Here are some tips: Sustainable accommodations You might already be considering this when booking your trip: hotels with a sustainability label. A well-known one for accommodations is Green Key, the largest international sustainability label for the hospitality sector. A Green Key label represents hotels that are committed to environmentally friendly and sustainable management. Green Key has different levels, with Gold being the highest attainable. Good to know that both of our hotels are Green Key Gold certified! Take a bike or walk where possible Opt for biking or walking instead of always taking the car. It’s not only good for the environment but also beneficial for your calorie consumption. Explore Terneuzen and the surrounding area on foot or by bike during your stay. This way, you experience the city and get to places you might not otherwise visit. You can rent bikes and e-bikes with us. Eat local Eating locally while traveling is not only a flavorful experience, but it also comes with many advantages. It supports the local economy and shortens the distance between the producers and your plate. The dishes on the menu of our restaurant, Taste Churchill, are inspired by classic cuisine with a modern twist. The young and dynamic kitchen team works with flavorful, fresh regional and seasonal products. Leave only your own footprints Some things are quite normal, like always cleaning up and separating your own waste. Other options might be a bit less known, so here’s a reminder. If you stay with us for more than one night, you can choose not to request housekeeping. This saves CO2 and is therefore better for the environment. Want to know more about our sustainability policy? With great enthusiasm, we present our revamped menu. In its development, we listened to feedback and focused on creating a culinary experience for all our international guests. One of the additions to our new menu is the introduction of hot lunch dishes. Whether you opt for a hearty stew, a vegetarian pasta, or a delicious sea bass fillet, our hot lunch dishes promise to be a feast for the taste buds. But that's not all! We are excited to announce that classic egg dishes are back on the menu. Sometimes, nothing beats a perfectly cooked omelet or Eggs Benedict. After all, why change something that is already good? That's why we've decided to bring these beloved classics back. Of course, we won't overlook the trend of shared dining. Our snack menu is designed to create shared moments, allowing you to enjoy delicious bites and drinks with friends and family. Try the loaded fries, our most popular dish to share. To make this experience even more complete, we are also introducing our new cocktail menu! Ranging from refreshing classics to bold new flavors. We look forward to welcoming you and surprising you with our new menu. Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or an extensive snack, we are here for you!

Terneuzen Hotels; two hotels under one name. Together, they welcome 75,000 guests per year. “This makes us a leader in the region. Our greatest strength lies in our shared values. Two hotels that seamlessly complement each other with modern facilities, personalized service, and a central location,” says Tina Jackson, General Manager of Terneuzen Hotels. She is working hard on the transformation of two city hotels into a regional hospitality concept. “We are the experts, and despite our down-to-earth Zeeland roots, now is the time to showcase our expertise.” ZEEUW DUTCHNESS “We have years of experience in the hospitality world and are now using that experience to take a different approach with our hotels. As the largest and oldest hotels in the region, we fulfill a special role. We are the experts, and despite our down-to-earth Zeeland roots, now is the time to showcase our expertise.” Tina enthusiastically discusses her regional vision for hospitality. As a hospitality entrepreneur in this region, we offer much more than just overnight stays. We view Terneuzen Hotels as a complete hospitality concept with comfortable hotel rooms, modern meeting facilities, a culinary restaurant, and excellent bars. We also see it as a partner for companies and event organizers. In all these areas, we strive for the highest quality. This means we're constantly evolving. We're investing heavily in modernizing our hotels, from digitization to redesigning the rooms and rebranding our restaurant. We're also promoting the local area with our online and offline campaigns. MODERNIZING FACILITIES The hotel rooms at the City Hotel and the Churchill Hotel met all the comfort standards of a good hotel. Nevertheless, Tina opted for renovation. At Terneuzen Hotels, we serve two types of guests: tourists and business guests. To offer both groups a unique and suitable experience, we've begun a transformation into modern hotel locations with all the modern comfort standards for both long and short stays. Think of hotel rooms with a separate living room and kitchenette, or a shared kitchen for our long-stay guests. Furthermore, the rooms simply have to look good, so we've replaced all the furniture. Sustainability naturally plays a major role in this. I want future generations to be able to enjoy these hotel rooms as well. That's why we've been certified by the Green Key sustainability label for several years now, specifically for socially responsible and sustainable entrepreneurship in the hospitality sector. RESTAURANT The restaurant at the Churchill Hotel has also undergone a makeover. The former Rosaura restaurant has been rebranded as Taste. A local restaurant with excellent value, based on fresh regional Zeeland produce. Both the interior and the menu have been updated. "As a restaurant, Taste is the perfect complement to our hotels. Our hotel guests can enjoy a sophisticated evening in a beautiful atmosphere at a unique location. But Taste also plays an important role for our business and local guests; from business lunches to romantic dinners with stunning views. We offer it all in our renovated restaurant. And we also have big plans for our terrace on the Scheldt; we're going to make it a truly atmospheric spot. This way, we want to be visible and accessible to passersby on the dike and to Terneuzen locals. This way, we'll truly become a waterfront hotspot for lunch, drinks, and dinner," laughs Tina proudly. "To complement Taste and take our diverse target audiences into account, we've chosen to create a homey restaurant in the City Hotel, offering dishes that also offer excellent value and appeal to a wide audience." MEETINGS AT A HIGH LEVEL In addition to the rooms and the restaurant, the meeting facilities at the Churchill Hotel have also undergone a major upgrade. "We have several rooms that can be flexibly configured. We've also thoroughly renovated these spaces, providing them with a new interior and modern audiovisual equipment. Combined with lunch or dinner at Taste restaurant, we offer our business guests the ultimate meeting location." REGIONAL FUNCTION Tina's vision of hospitality extends beyond the hotel facilities. Tina grew up in the Terneuzen region, and that's why she's passionate about supporting it. "Besides me, many true Terneuzen residents work in our hotels. No one knows better about the typical local customs and the interesting places in the area, which offer our guests a special experience. We see it as our duty to share this knowledge and experience with our guests and other relevant partners. I believe in the power of collaboration. I see a lot being done in our region; the municipality is working We're working hard with residents and entrepreneurs on a new city center. The government and businesses are collaborating to keep the industry and business parks up to date, and various event organizers are making it attractive to both locals and tourists. Economically, our area will receive a tremendous boost from the Nieuwe Sluis (New Lock). In short, there are many ambitious plans, and I feel Terneuzen Hotels can play a crucial role in them. I'm eager to take on the role of hospitality leader in our region. I'd like to reiterate that I believe in the power of collaboration and will certainly take responsibility for that in the coming period. If it were up to me, Terneuzen Hotels would transform into the hospitality concept for our region; a true place to go.

Meeting, it's one of those activities we all know, but many of us have developed a certain aversion to it. It can feel boring, time-consuming, and sometimes even ineffective. But what if we told you that meetings can also be fun, productive, and inspiring? Yes, it's true! With our tips, you can turn your meeting into an experience that everyone looks forward to. Here are some tips to transform and elevate the meeting process. Get up and walk Who said meetings always have to take place at a table? Try a walking meeting. Go outside and let the fresh air and movement stimulate creativity. It not only changes the environment but can also help get the energy flowing and improve circulation, which in turn can benefit productivity. Add game elements Introduce game elements into the meeting to enhance the atmosphere and stimulate creativity. This can range from trivia questions about the topic to using playing cards to generate ideas. The key is to keep the game elements relevant to the meeting's purpose and to actively engage the participants. Standing meetings Standing meetings can not only shorten the duration of the meeting but also increase the focus and alertness of the participants. By literally getting out of your chair, you avoid people leaning back comfortably and getting distracted. It can also lead to a more dynamic exchange of ideas. Mindfulness and relaxation exercises Incorporate short mindfulness or relaxation exercises into the meeting to restore focus and reduce stress. This can range from breathing exercises to brief meditation sessions. Taking a moment of calm can enhance productivity and the well-being of the participants. Change the setting Depending on the purpose of the meeting, try changing the setting. Organize a meeting at an external location. Changing the environment can stimulate creativity and uncover new perspectives. If you come to us for a meeting, we are also happy to assist you with the practical aspects of meeting. We prepare everything for you, ensure that the necessary supplies are available, and provide you with delicious snacks and drinks. Feeling inspired and want to see what we can do for your upcoming meeting? Contact us by phone at 0115-621120 or fill out our contact form.
