Sustainable travel
The importance of sustainability has greatly increased in recent years, and this also affects the way we travel. As a traveler, you can have a positive impact on the environment by making conscious choices during your journey. Here are some tips:
Sustainable accommodations
You might already be considering this when booking your trip: hotels with a sustainability label. A well-known one for accommodations is Green Key, the largest international sustainability label for the hospitality sector. A Green Key label represents hotels that are committed to environmentally friendly and sustainable management. Green Key has different levels, with Gold being the highest attainable.
Good to know that both of our hotels are Green Key Gold certified!
Take a bike or walk where possible
Opt for biking or walking instead of always taking the car. It’s not only good for the environment but also beneficial for your calorie consumption. Explore Terneuzen and the surrounding area on foot or by bike during your stay. This way, you experience the city and get to places you might not otherwise visit. You can rent bikes and e-bikes with us.
Eat local
Eating locally while traveling is not only a flavorful experience, but it also comes with many advantages. It supports the local economy and shortens the distance between the producers and your plate. The dishes on the menu of our restaurant, Taste Churchill, are inspired by classic cuisine with a modern twist. The young and dynamic kitchen team works with flavorful, fresh regional and seasonal products.
Leave only your own footprints
Some things are quite normal, like always cleaning up and separating your own waste. Other options might be a bit less known, so here’s a reminder. If you stay with us for more than one night, you can choose not to request housekeeping. This saves CO2 and is therefore better for the environment.
