Terneuzen Hotels receives De Groene Pluim award

On Thursday, September 12 2025, we, Terneuzen Hotels, were proud to receive De Groene Pluim from Alderman Laszlo van de Voorde. For us, this recognition is not only a wonderful reward for the efforts we have made so far, but also provides extra motivation to continue and further strengthen our sustainable course.
What is De Groene Pluim?
De Groene Pluim is an initiative of the foundation of the same name that recognizes and appreciates companies and organizations that are serious about sustainable entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs who consider sustainability a matter of course are put in the spotlight. What started in 2017 with one company has grown into a national network of around 500 companies, from international corporations to local family businesses with sustainability in their DNA. In the municipality of Terneuzen, we are the fourth entrepreneur to receive the Groene Pluim.
Sustainable business practices at Terneuzen Hotels
At Terneuzen Hotels, we believe that real change starts with conscious choices in our daily activities. Small steps can have a big impact, especially when they are implemented structurally. That is why we have been actively committed to sustainability on various fronts within our organization for many years.
At Terneuzen Hotels, we believe that small changes can have a big impact. We remain committed to improvement and innovation in the field of sustainability, because we are convinced that caring for our planet is not an option, but a responsibility that we as a company must take. We do this by using heat pumps, solar panels, and water-saving systems. A major renovation is also planned for 2026, in which outdated window frames and glass will be replaced with energy-efficient alternatives. In addition, energy consumption is closely monitored via Green Key, whereby we are audited annually on our performance.
Towards a green future
The awarding of De Groene Pluim confirms that we are on the right track. But we are not there yet, and we don't want to be. Sustainability is not an end goal, but a continuous process of learning, improving, and innovating. Together with our employees, guests, partners, and the municipality, we will continue to build a future in which entrepreneurship goes hand in hand with care for people, the environment, and society.
